The sun exploded on On April 18, 2112 in a Class X solar storm the likes of which humankind had never seen.

They had exactly nineteen minutes to decide what to do next.

They had nineteen minutes until a geomagnetic wave washed over the Earth, frying every electrical device created by humans, blacking out entire continents, and every satellite in their sky.

Nineteen minutes to say goodbye to the world they knew, forever, and to prepare for a new Earth, a new Sun.

Generations after solar storms destroyed nearly all human technology on Earth, humans reverted to a middle ages-like existence, books are burned as heresy, and all knowledge of the remaining technology is kept hidden by a privileged few called the Reticents.

Alana, a disfigured slave girl, and Recks, a traveling minstrel and sometimes-thief, join forces to bring knowledge and books back to the human race. But when Alana is chosen against her will to be the Vessel, the living repository for all human knowledge, she must find the strength to be what the world needs even if it’s the last thing she wants.

Chapter-by-Chapter-header---About-the-Author

Lisa T. Cresswell

Lisa, like most writers, began scribbling silly notes, stories, and poems at a very young age. Born in North Carolina, the South proved fertile ground to her imagination with its beautiful white sand beaches and red earth. In fifth grade, she wrote, directed and starred in a play “The Queen of the Nile” at school, despite the fact that she is decidedly un-Egyptian looking. Perhaps that’s why she went on to become a real life archaeologist?

Unexpectedly transplanted to Idaho as a teenager, Lisa learned to love the desert and the wide open skies out West. This is where her interest in cultures, both ancient and living, really took root, and she became a Great Basin archaeologist. However, the itch to write never did leave for long. Her first books became the middle grade fantasy trilogy, The Storyteller Series. Her first traditionally published work, Hush Puppy, is now available from Featherweight Press.

Lisa still lives in Idaho with her family and a menagerie of furry critters that includes way too many llamas!

******OVER 450 FIVE STAR REVIEWS!*******
Sitting there in the car, a part of me bitterly resented what she was doing to me. I knew it wasn’t her fault. But does she have to be so… alluring? I need to focus on something else besides the spot between her earlobe and neck. It looked so soft. Her lips were slightly parted as she looked out the window. I wanted to part them further with mine. I put both my hands on the steering wheel. I could not allow myself to let go until she was out of the car. Suddenly she leaned in and kissed me. It was far better than I could even begin to explain to you. I’ve fought and died a slow and painful death on earth. And nothing, NOTHING can compare to how hard it was for me to pull away from her lips. I don’t think any angel could to do it twice in a lifetime…

Excerpts

“Your courage is in your tears. Every time you cry, you lose a little bit more of it. That’s why you’re so breakable. Not because you’re human, because you’re always shedding courage from your eyes.”

~~~
Marcus, choose me. Choose the path that is perilous and leads to certain annihilation because it’s also the path that leads to me. They can’t understand that we are powerless to stop what we have for each other. But we know. We know that if we don’t bend to the will of this love, it will break us.
~~~

“I heard this guy say once that he thought if he said ‘no’ to doing drugs then the fight was over. But it turns out he had to say ‘no’ each and every day. I didn’t get it until I met you. When I first fell for you, I said ‘no’ to it. Then the next day the feeling came back. Now every single day, I have to say ‘no’ to being with you.”

Praise

“This book shows a whole other side of angels the good, the bad, and the ugly. Each character has their own story or “core” . This is only the beginning. Where can I find the second book?” ~Maya Twitty

“Could not put it down!!” ~Misty

“I didn’t actually chose this book on purpose but I got it because it was free. After reading the first chapter I was hooked…and devastated. How could you let that happen Lola? I definitely recommend that you read this book…with a box of tissues.” ~Amazon Review

Excerpt from Spell Fire, Book #3, The Teen Wytche Saga

I paused beneath the fern‑painted ceiling fan and scanned the wall menu. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for, but a weird craving fueled my search.

The dragon exerted pressure between my shoulder blades, prompting me. “A Scorpion’s Nest smoothie.”

Morningstar leaned over the high counter and gave me a onceover. “You feeling okay?”

I licked my lips. “Absolutely.” I had never tasted an orange juice, vanilla ice cream, and peanut butter combo, but I slapped the countertop and said, “I’m fine. Hit me.”

Morningstar tilted her head to one side and studied me.

Oh — crap. Maybe I’m dragon drunk.

After a tumultuous first semester in seventh grade, Jed Rivers returns triumphant or so he thinks. After embracing his undeadness to put his archenemy Robbie in his place, the thirteen-year-old zombie thought he’d have a much easier time surviving the second semester relatively intact. That was before he came across the antizombie propaganda published by the mysterious NZN Network, a group trying to push Hollywood stereotypes as the truth. Through fear-mongering and outright lies, the NZN Network will stop at nothing to get Jed expelled.

Jed s attempts to blend in get even more difficult when news spreads that he’s created a zombie dog. And it’s no rumor. Jed shocks even himself when, after seeing a dog get hit by a car, he brings the dog back to life or at least to undeadness when some of his ooze slips into the dog s wounds. The good news is that Jed always wanted a faithful canine companion. The bad news is that the creation of Tread (so called for the mark on his ribcage) unnerves Jed s best friend Luke. Luke abandons Jed, who then learns Luke has been feeding the NZN Network inside information.

Determined to unmask those behind NZN, Jed gets his opportunity at the end of the school year during Pine Hollow s annual Science Fair. When the NZN s experiment goes horribly awry, Jed has a chance to show people that being undead isn’t always a bad thing.

 Excerpt:

“When do you need to be home?” he whispered.

“Six-ish.” The clock by his bed had said five-thirty something. “I texted Femi earlier.” I didn’t want us to stop. Today had been so stressful.

Torin rolled us across the bed and reached for my cell. Kill joy.

I read Femi’s text while he did his best to distract me. “Six-thirty.”

Making out with Torin was like drifting in a sea of sensations, away from reality and the mundane. His hands and mouth were gifted, and being with him was beautiful, intense, and mind-blowing. Times like this, I hated that we’d agreed to wait before I could give myself to him. Each time, it got just a little harder to stop. It was so frustrating.

Sighing, he wrapped his legs around mine like a pretzel and held me so there was no space between us, as though he was scared someone would rip me from his arms.

We stayed like that for a while, until I couldn’t stand it anymore. I kissed his chest. “You want to tell me what’s bothering you?”

“Nothing is bothering me.” He spoke against my forehead.

I didn’t believe him. We had faced some jacked up situations together, but I’d never seen him like this. I was the one who always got twisted on the inside. He was often my rock. My anchor. Something had shaken him to the core, and I wanted to know what it was.

“Torin?”

“Hmm,” he mumbled.

“Talk to me.”

I waited. The silence stretched. “I’m here for you if you need to talk.”

His arms tightened around me. “I know.”

Praise for the Seeress

…suspenseful, dramatic and exciting… Raine is surrounded by the most wonderful little group of people, all willing to support her. Even though they are not all related by blood, the love and sense of family is something beautiful… YA Book Addict

After reading Grimnirs I thought this series couldn’t get any better. Boy, I was wrong. Seeress put the bar really high for the next books in the series… Ruty @ReadingDreaming

“Seeress” is the third book of the Runes Series and it’s just as good as its predecessors. The book with its Norse Mythology background and great characters (Raine, Torin, Echo, Cora, Andris, Ingrid….) just sucks you… Stacey M. Cook Amazon reviewer

I swooned, cried, laughed, fretted and cheered. I was guessing with each turn of events. Totally brilliant.… Maureen “I am a 40 something year old female that still loves young adult fiction”

I was honored to read an early copy of this book. Since then, I’ve been a big (huge) fan.

So, it is with great (ridiculous) excitement

that I present to you Iris St. Clair’s debut novel cover!

 Cool, right? Yay! I can not wait for you to read this one.

Yes.  I’m fangirling. I know it, but I love this story.

Louder Than Words

Release Date: 09/16/14
Swoon Romance

Summary from Goodreads:

Disappointment has
been on speed dial in Ellen Grayson’s life lately. Her dad’s dead, her mom is
numbing the grief with drugs and alcohol, and her so-called friends are slowly
abandoning her. Trusting a popular teacher with her troubles should have been safe,
shouldn’t have led to an unwelcome seduction attempt, shouldn’t have sent her
running to the girls’ bathroom for the final moments of her Junior year. Lesson
learned. Best to keep all the sordid details of her life to herself.

Enter Rex Jacobi, a cocky teen recently transplanted from New York and fellow
summer camp employee. Though his quick wit and confidence draws her in, she’s
not letting him get too close, not til she’s sure she can trust him. By the
time Rex’s charming persistence wears down her resistance, it’s too late. He’s
put Ellen on the perma-pal shelf and shifted his romantic attentions to her
arch-rival. Even worse, the teacher who tried to seduce her is still
misbehaving with impunity.
With her ability to trust as shaky as a chastity vow on prom night, Ellen must
decide if she has enough remaining courage to speak up about her teacher and
risk retribution, to tell Rex how she feels and risk heartbreak, or hold all
her secrets inside, the only safe place she knows.

About the Author

Iris St. Clair is the pen name for a long-suffering cubicle worker by
day, a Walter Mitty-like dreamer by night. (Her alter ego Tatiana Ivanadance
also choreographs gravity-defying routines in those fantasies, but that’s
another bio.)
No matter what genre she writes, she prefers witty, insecure heroines and
kind, persistent heroes able to break through to the gooey heart inside.
In high school she was voted most likely to win at Monopoly and Clue, but
least likely to throw a ball anywhere near a target. Thank goodness writing
requires less hand-eye coordination, punctuation errors notwithstanding.

Iris believes in the two-year “fish or cut bait” dating rule
and has a 20+ year marriage and two teenaged sons as proof of concept. She
lives, writes, dreams and dances in the rainy Portland, OR area.
