J. A. Belfield and The Big Resonance Giveaway!

Resonance (Holloway Pack, #2.5)

Release Date: April 2nd 2013

Title: Resonance

Series: Holloway Pack 2.5

Publisher: J. Taylor Publishing

The Big Resonance Giveaway!

April 2nd 2013 marked the official release of Resonance upon the world, and yes, Resonance is available to purchase at all of the usual outlets. However, because I love and appreciate my fans so much, I decided to go on a mission to give something back.

Thanks to my super-duper editor, I’ve been granted permission for the following.

My Mission

I vow to give away a FREE copy of Resonance to everyone who submits a valid entry between April 2nd and May 2nd (inclusive).

On top of that, one main-prize winner will receive a Holloway Pack swag-bundle (see image).

Resonance-Giveaway

So, what do you have to do to enter?

Simples. Read on.

Resonance is, by no means, intended to be read as a standalone. If you haven’t read at least Blue Moon, then you will have absolutely no idea what is happening in Resonance. Also, if you haven’t read Blue Moon, then you will be hit upside the head with one massive spoiler for how the book ends if you read Resonance first.

Here’s the deal. You can enter in any (or all, if you wish) of the following ways:

1)
Post a picture of you with your precious copy or Blue Moon somewhere on the Internet.
It does not have to be a hard copy (paperback); it can be the cover image on the screen of your Kindle/e-reader/reading tablet. No, pdf’s do not count. If you have a pdf, then it’s most probably an illegal copy, and so will only upset me.
Once said picture is posted, link me up so I can see it. If you stick it on FB, then tag me, but remember, I have a space (for some bizarre reason) between my initials on there. So, make sure you use @J. A. Belfield in your tag. NB: There will be a space in the Rafflecopter form to paste in a link to your pic, also, just in case I miss any or the tagging doesn’t work. If you stick it on Twitter, then be sure to mention: @JABelfield so I can see your entry. And if you happen to stick it anywhere else, then be sure to forward a link to the post to j.a.belfield72 at gmail.com and include ‘The Big Resonance Giveaway’ in the subject line.

2)
Post a review for Blue Moon.
Obviously, I’d prefer amazing ones, but I get that my writing won’t jive for everyone, so any review over 100 words will be accepted, even if it doesn’t rave and include 4/5 stars. However, I will read each review carefully (because I always do), and ascertain that I believe the book has actually been read rather than a review being composed out of a rewrite of the blurb (yes, this does happen on occasion).
Where you post your review is up to you. On Goodreads. Amazon. B&N. On your blog. Completely up to you. But the Rafflecopter form will have separate entry options for each of these places, and each one will be included as an entry toward the main prize.

Make sense?

Excellent!

Off you go, go, goooo!

Book Blurb:

Guilt is a heavy burden for the one carrying it.

Jem Stonehouse is no exception to this rule.

What if she’d acted sooner? What if she’d fully recognised the threat? What if she hadn’t allowed the male pack members to head into the witches’ ambush?

For one, youngest pack member Josh Larsen wouldn’t be trapped in the sleep of the dead.

Now, Jem is convinced it’s her job to bring him back to life no matter what it takes— learning more about her heritage, risking pack exposure, or travelling to places she couldn’t have imagined possible.

Even if the journey endangers her soul.

Excerpt:

Whiteness reflected back at me from the ceiling above—a blank canvas of nothingness. For two weeks, I’d spent a few hours each day in the lilac bedroom. For two weeks, I’d prayed for a

miracle. For some kind of enlightenment. Or at the very least, for Jess to find a way to wake up Josh.

Some days, the emptiness dulled my senses to a warble of incoherency. Thankfully, on those days, Sean came to my rescue, reminding me life still existed beyond the four, pale purple walls. Somehow managing to convince me that everything would work out.

If Sean believed Josh would awaken, what right did I have to dispute him?

If the rest of the pack believed, who was I to douse their flames of hope?

Yet, no matter how many hours, how many days, how many weeks I spent at Josh’s side in a show of optimism, the ache in my heart belied any positivity I feigned.

Rolling onto my side caused the mattress to dip, but even that jostle didn’t stir Josh. I flicked at an errant, dark blond curl, poked at his cheek. Still, he didn’t move, didn’t flinch, didn’t acknowledge my prodding.

Again.

Poor kid had probably been poked more in the past fortnight than he had his entire life.

As my heavy sigh eased out, footsteps ascended the stairs outside the room. I knew from sound alone who they belonged to, didn’t even need to inhale to confirm. That didn’t stop me, though, and my lids lowered as my mate’s bouquet found home within my olfactory.

Seconds later, Sean’s body filled the doorway and cast a shadow across the carpet. “Hey.”

“Hey,” I whispered without looking up.

“Anything?”

I tapped my fingertip along Josh’s jawline, willing him to react yet knowing he wouldn’t.

Josh hadn’t moved the entire two weeks he’d been under. Heck, we’d barely moved him. No toileting. No sweating. He didn’t seem to feel, hear, taste, see or smell.

All thanks to being in a death sleep, Jess had said.

I slaughtered the witches responsible for putting Josh under—for bewitching him in the worst possible way. At the time, their deaths had seemed fitting. That had been before I realised Josh’s predicament.

With a small head shake, I rubbed my hand along Josh’s arm as if the friction would help a body lacking in heat. “I’ve been thinking.”

“Thought I heard the turning of rusty cogs.”

My gaze skittered to the left and landed on Sean’s lopsided smile. Dark hair stood on end above dark eyes staring back at me. All male, all muscle, all mine, Sean Holloway got me like no other.

“You going to make me pry it out of you, Jem?”

Rolling my eyes at the suggestiveness of his tone, I brushed a kiss across Josh’s cheek and wriggled off the bed. At the door, I grabbed Sean’s hips and steered him backward across the landing and into our room.

His left eyebrow arched up. “You do want me to pry it out of you.”

I breathed out a laugh as I trotted over to the bed and sat crosslegged, tugging him along with me until he mirrored my pose. Nudging his hand up, I placed my palm flat against his, studying

the size difference as male dwarfed female in a way I rarely noticed. “I’ve been thinking about what you said.”

Here’s my review:

Okay … Yes! I have been on a string of great reads lately and Blue Moon is no different. I loved it. I’m such a sucker for the triple threat of great action, romance and the paranormal coming together in a perfect storm of terrific writing. In the capable hands of Ms. Belfield, we’re taken on another leg of Jem and Sean’s journey together, and it’s done with humor, passion and mystery. I love how I can see, taste, and smell her writing as if I’m right there. I’ve come to love these characters and miss them when I’m done reading. I want to call them up and invite them over for dinner, just to check in and see how they’re doing. How twisted is that?

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to lovers of paranormal romance. It’s a fun and satisfying read from a wonderful author.

I give Blue Moon:

Make Believe anthology (part four) : an interview with J.A. Belfield

Make Believe

Getting to know this cover, are we? Good because the stories inside are top notch!

Escort to Insanity by J.A. Belfield

From a charity auction, to a stroll in the park, to the craziest night of her life. Nicole Harrington can’t help but wonder how a simple event went so drastically wrong.

Of course, the male escort she booked is wholly to blame. Not only charming but shrewdly intelligent, Benjamin Gold drags Nicole into a platoon of unimaginable problems—ones from which she’ll have to find the courage just to survive.

Ms. Belfield will now take your questions:

Q. Tell us about your story!

Escort to Insanity is a bit of a crazy tale about a woman who books herself a male escort for the evening and a series of events turn it into a crazy night she’ll remember for the rest of her life. Oh, and there’s a little something supernatural in there, too–coz I can’t help myself. 😉

 Q. How did you come up with the idea?

Hmmm, I think I just had the opening scene pop into my head, where the MC is in her room all ready for her date with an escort she couldn’t believe she’d booked, and it pretty much spiralled out of control from there with a tonne of what-ifs, lol.

 Q. What’s your main character’s greatest strength, biggest flaw?

Nicole Harrington is the MC. Cole for short. And I’m going to answer the latter part backward: Cole’s biggest flaw is that she’s spent her entire life begging approval from a powerful and very demanding father; her greatest strength is that she’s built within herself the courage to finally try and fight for her independence.

Q. What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Getting it right first time. Seriously. I’m a horrible perfectionist AS I write, and I’m such a tough critic on myself, that I ALWAYS try to get the story as close to perfect as possible. And I drive myself nuts being this way.

 Q. What one question do you wish an interviewer would ask you but never has?

How would I know if they’ve never asked me? Hehe. I seriously don’t know. It would no doubt be something whacky and off the wall, though.

Q. What are you working on now? Do you tend to work on multiple projects or one at a time?

I have an adult series available called the Holloway Pack. I’m working on Holloway Pack #4–title currently supa-sekrit. 😉 And do I work on multiple projects? I used to but not so much. Sure I’ll have a TONNE of other projects in my WIP folder, because if an idea pops into my head I’ll jot it down (my ideas usually pop in as opening scenes), and I’ll occasionally open them up and add little notes or later scenes as they come to me, but I retain my main focus for one project at a time. Especially now that I have a timeline goal set out for what I want to write and by when. 🙂

Q. What is your favorite line from this book?

Gargh! Tough question alert!!! Okay, here goes:

“It reminds me of winter in the woods,” he said. “Where nothing else exists beyond the perimeter your soul creates.”

Q. Did you always want to be a writer?

Nope. I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up. As a kid, I thought buying my own ice cream truck would be the ultimate goal to aim for. 😉

Q. Was there any part that you struggled with or avoided writing?

I always struggle with the middle of every darn story I write–whatever the length. Because there’s often a bit of a dip amongst any action but the author still has to keep the story rolling so the readers stay on board.

 Q. What are you reading right now? Do you read a book at a time or more than one?

Right now … I’m reading Ashen Winter by Mike Mullin. I’m really digging the entire dystopia/post apocalyptic-type novels since I got bitten with The Hunger Games.

Q. What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Any hobbies?

I mostly read. I’m a reading fiend. And sometimes I bake. The best way to get me away from writing is by taking me away from home. The MIL has the best results because she has no internet, lol.

 Q. What was your favorite book/who was your favorite writer as a teen?

I grew up with Famous Five, and moved through the ranks of Judy Blume’s stories as I grew older. Before I left school, I was reading my mum’s Mills & Boon’s.

Q. Who is your favorite writer now?

Gargh! Difficult question alert!!!!!!!!!! I think it’s possibly Jennifer L. Armentrout because I’ve loved everything I’ve read of hers so far.

Q. What is the best young adult book you’ve read so far in 1012?

Onyx by Ms Armentrout (that lady up there ^^^). 😀

 Q. What do you see emerging  as the next big trend in young adult literature?

I think young adult readers are getting weary of paranormal reads because so much is getting replicated now and the market is becoming more and more flooded. I’ve noticed more and more paranormal YA lovers are turning to contemporary for a break, and I’ve already read a few titles–new adult ones, too–that are blowing readers away.

Q. Have you ever wanted to quit writing? Why? What made you keep going?

Every damn day. Because sometimes it just seems like an uphill struggle to get what’s in my head into the document. But I keep going because that struggle just makes the reward of achievement all the more sweeter. There’s absolutely nothing like that feeling a writer gets when they read back what they wrote yesterday and realise it doesn’t suck as much as they thought it would. 🙂

 Q. If you could have a career besides being an author, what would it be?

No freakin’ idea. Srsly. 😉

Thanks so much for being here today and answering all my nosey questions. 🙂

Want to know more? I thought so …

Where, when, and how do you like to read?

Hi everybody!

Is that a weird question? More musings today. You people already know I’m crazy so just go with this, okay?

So, I’m in the shower thinking about reading. What? I was. I also think about reading in my car, at the grocery store, while I work out at the gym, when I put my makeup on, and when I sleep … where I tend to dream about reading.

A-hem. That’s another post for another day. Anyway, as the shampoo dripped into my eyes, stinging the crap out of them, I realized something— my reading habit’s changed when I changed bathing habits.

Yes, I get this giddy over reading in the bathtub, don’t you?

WTHeck? Right? Well, see I used to run a steaming hot bubble bath, grab my dog-eared paperback of the moment, jump in the tub and read ’til the water went cold. You can do that with paperbacks. In my opinion, that’s what they are for. Love them up, turn down the pages, take them to the pool, the beach—treat ’em rough. They like it!  🙂

Hard covers? Perish the thought! Those babies get a place of honor on my bookshelf. True favorites are worth the money and a permanent place in my home where space is limited. Why? Because the spectacular writing of that particular author hit a heartstring and they’ve earned their spot. Hard covers are read in special places where nothing will damage them, under the shade in a hammock on a sunny day, at the park, or on my back porch. *Sigh*

Part of the change in my reading habits occurred when my writer friend, J.A. Belfield, told me to put a Kindle AP on my computer. Wait, what? You don’t know her? Run, don’t walk, to your nearest computer and download her books! http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/4730698.J_A_Belfield  As I was saying … digital reading put a laptop in my fingers instead of paper. And since my battery blows chunks (I need a new one which I’m too cheap to buy) that limits me to the wall plugs next to my bed or on my couch at night. Still, reading on my laptop is nice next to a cozy fire in the winter. *sigh x 2*

Don’t you find reading makes you more attractive? I usualy look just like this when I read first thing in the morning.

So between Kindle and showers, my reading habits have changed. I think most people have a favorite place to read along with a format they like. What about you? Kindle, Nook, paperback, hard cover … Leave me a comment, I’d love to know …  where, when, and how you like to read?

Reading is just so sexy, people. Plus, it tends to make our bodies more flexible. I like contorting into uncomfortable positions and reading for hours, but now I’m just showing off.

J.A. Belfield asks: Is your love Eternal?

Hello ya’ll

I’m excited to talk about J.A. Belfield‘s new release Eternal.

I love Belfield’s writing, and if you haven’t read her stuff before all I can say is … what are you waiting for?

The blurb:

An unmarried woman living in a house of men breeds hearsay and lore. If only the villagers knew the truth.
It’s not Jem Stonehouse’s marital status that brings unwanted strangers to town. Rather, it’s that she is the only female werewolf in existence — a prize to any pack.
Sean Holloway, the love of Jem’s life, has gone to great lengths to protect her. As a new attack becomes imminent, Sean realizes he must take greater measures with Jem’s safety or risk losing her forever.
His first task must be to marry her, but a force greater than the largest werewolf stands in his way.
Her mother.

Doesn’t it sound awesome? Yes. yes, it does. 🙂

And here’s what people are saying!

“”… Eternal … wow, just wow.  This book is so full of romance and action and suspense …yes, I know it’s a novella, but still… it’s got it all.”” — Known to Read

Description

Sacrificial Oath by Terri Rochenski An impetuous act unwittingly makes Alesuela the fulfillment of the Sovereign’s Blood Oath to their Goddess. In five days, she’ll be forced to make the greatest choice of her life: become the virginal sacrifice already promised, or force the man she loves most to die in her place.
With an impossible choice in front of her, she searches for ways to undo the oath, and in her quest, finds not everything in her life is as she expects.

The Amulet of Ormisez by J. Keller Ford There is only one way to save Elton Fletcher’s brother from an insanity-ridden death. After years away from home, fighting for his people, Elton returns to discover his only sibling, Cayden, possessed by greed and malice, and responsible for malicious, unthinkable deeds. Cayden, though, isn’t the only one afflicted by the Amulet of Ormisez, and Elton finds himself in yet another battle, where the price of failure could be his own life.

Birthright by Lynda R. Young Christa can mask the pain and hide the scars, but running from a birthright is impossible. She’s tried to escape her grief by fleeing to a small town in Florida. Much to her frustration, the locals think they recognize her even though she’s never been there before. To make things worse, a man named Jack spouts outrageous theories about her. Both spur Christa to bolt, to start fresh yet again, but there’s something about Jack that intrigues her enough to stay. The only problem? Someone else wants her to leave, and they won’t stop until she’s dead.

Petrified by Kelly Said A mysterious storm has replaced summer with winter, devastating crops and smothering Castle lands in snow.  Prince Sterling August stands alone as a leader, lost in personal grief as well as a desire to help his people but with an inability to do either. The answers he needs await him, but without Lochlyn, a woman who’s just as isolated as Sterling, he’ll never see what stands before him, cloaked in illusion.

Last Winter Red by Jennifer M. Eaton Emily is a Red, a woman whose sole purpose in life is to produce offspring. When her husband dies and leaves her childless, she risks her life and forsakes the safety of Terra—a disease-free city born after the nuclear holocaust. Beyond its boundaries, she knows, survives a man with whom she can be properly paired. The Outside, though, holds secrets the government struggles to keep, and what Emily discovers on her quest for a mate will change her life forever.

Escort to Insanity by J.A. Belfield From a charity auction, to a stroll in the park, to the craziest night of her life.
