The Sending

A city’s peace is shattered when two university students go missing, and only Daneel and his friends know the shocking truth of what happened. Finding themselves under attack, Daneel leads them in a race to escape the mounting violence.
Mara is willing to kill for the beliefs of the faction that raised her. But as she seeks out her mark, using a rare, mystical form of travel known as the Sending, Mara discovers a powerful connection that challenges the truth of everything she’s been taught.
While Daneel fights to protect those he cares for, Mara must choose whether to cling to the ideology of her home—or open her scarred heart to a searing attraction and the promise of a new life.

Praise for The Sending

The Sending reads like a dystopian Romeo and Juliet where strong, full characters from very different places inevitably collide with passion and conflict. Salguero fills a fresh, vibrant world with a nerve-tingling fast plot. Prepare to be immersed. ~Tamara Ward, author of Hidden Betrayal

The Sending is a thrilling, fast-paced, science fiction-romance that’s impossible to put down. Edge-of-your-seat action scenes, and a romantic attraction so intense that it will make you want to turn down the air conditioning, The Sending is a great read that left me hungry for more. I loved this book!

Excerpt

As one of the hawks flew across the tiny plane of space framed by her window, Mara closed her eyes. She envisioned herself there, experiencing the grace and the power of their movements. She imagined the control of that journey and thought that one day she might have that type of power over her own fate.
Mara felt a kinship with the graceful hunter. It knew the thrill of conquest coupled with the need for survival: opposite sides of the same implacable coin. The compound had taught Mara to use that need to a greater advantage than she had before.
Her chest tightened. Before? No, there was no before. Everything was after.
After her home had been raided, after her family had been killed, after she had been forced to fend for herself. She’d had only the passive help of a few others who had suffered the same fate, who had used her as much as she had been forced to use them.
She was a young six years when she lost her family. The memories of their life together had quickly begun to fade into the cruel background of her new life, into an icy, nearly paralyzing bath of hunger and fear.
The fear had covered everything. It had even blanketed the things that had seemed gentle and innocent to her before, so that nothing was safe. For a long time, the fear had ruled her with a cold, hard hand.

From Gods by Mary Ting

Did you just see a flash of lightning across the sky on a clear sunny day? It’s not from Mother Nature. It is most likely from Mason Grand, swoon-worthy demigod, one of Zeus’s descendants.
Skylar Rome is supposed to be having the best summer ever before she heads off to college. Little did she know, her whole life was about to change while visiting her cousin. Nearly drowning at the beach due to unknown forces, one of the Grand brothers she’d just met, Mason, saves her life. Cool, collected, mysterious, and dangerously good-looking, Skylar is drawn to him from the start. Though she knows he is the type of guy good girls stayed away from, it seems he is always saving her life, and the attraction was inevitable.
Upon meeting the brothers, strange things begin to happen. When she accidentally kills one of the brothers, it throws her life into turmoil, as they search to find the answers. Implausibly, she gets caught up in a world of the decedents of ancient gods, all who have super powers. Not only is her discovery difficult to accept, evil beings are after her. Running out of time and running for her life, she must unravel a mystery. What do they want from her? Forced into a battle set into motion long before she was born, will she find the answers, or will she die trying?

Excerpt:

“Mason, Mason, Mason,” Skylar panicked.

“I know. Skylar, hold on tight. I’m going to brake.”

“But…but there are cars behind us.”

“We have no choice. Don’t worry. I got this.” Pushing down on the brake pedal forcefully, the car hydroplaned to the right. “Hold on,” Mason yelled. Skylar gripped the first thing she could place her hand on tightly. The water from the road jetted up into the air like a water show, but the car kept gliding sideways, until finally it spun a full circle and stopped. With no time to waste, Mason turned the car toward the right and accelerated, hoping to dodge what was coming toward them.

Out of nowhere, a long piece of ice, taking the form of a spear-like shape, darted through the trucks’ tires and punctured some of them. More ice spears came soaring out of the rain, but this time, ten or more sphere like ice balls followed, denting the sides of the trucks, and one went through a windshield. With flat tires, the trucks now glided as if on ice, maneuvering from side to side.

“Did you do that?” Skylar asked excitedly.

“No…must be Poseidon’s kids. Where the hell are they?” Mason spread his right arm in front of Skylar, as if to protect her. “Bend down, Sky.”

One of the trucks hit another and swirled, hitting the other adjacent to it. The crash caused the trucks to flip and tumble, heading straight for Mason’s car. With a look of shock, Skylar held her breath. With no time to move, think, or get out of the car, she closed her eyes and prepared for the crash.

Just seconds before the impact, Mason’s car flew up into the air, over the trucks. Somehow, magically, the water created a liquid bridge, guiding the car safely over, and then it thumped hard on the ground on the other side. Without looking back, Mason sped away as the sound of screeching brakes and metal impacting on metal blasted behind them.

Crux Unleashed! Today is the Day …

July 9th may be special for a lot of different reasons. Maybe it’s your anniversary, or the day you had a baby or reached a long time goal. I get that, because for me, it feels like all three. This day will be cemented in my brain forever because I’ve been married to an idea for two years, gave birth to a novel, and with that, crossed an unattainable, pipe dream. unreachable important finish line.

I’m excited, nervous and just plain tickled to introduce you to some people I love. Let’s get silly!

Its release day for my debut YA novel Crux! I want to tell you a little bit about the story and characters…

If you’ve done any beta reading for me, you know I write (and adore) young adult paranormal romance complete with purple prose and superfluous description. My favorites include characters that do a lot of longing, gazing deeply into one another’s eyes until someone falls over, brooding, glaring and sighing. Sorry, it’s simply true.

I also like adverbs.

Crux is not that book.

Crux is … well, it’s an urban story based in modern day Atlanta with a homeless girl playing the lead. I’m going to be really mean to her and send her back in time to face people like him …

Wait, there’s more! My story has this mythology and general hotness sprinkled in …

And if you act now (and before you get all mad at me for picking on my heroine too much) I’ll send some major dude buddy to help her out …

Yeah, he’s a dog. So? Oh, right, you were expecting, maybe, a hot-model-type guy to help? Hold the phone.

If you know me at all, there’s no way I’m going to leave it there, because I still want some romance. Are you with me?

Well, our story begins with our heroine here:

Hmm, it isn’t very pretty, but she gets infused with some of this:

And when she  meets up with some :

… it’s all good.

The above should give you a better idea of what you’re going to experience inside the pages of Crux.

If you’ve read an early copy of this book, God bless you. *bows, places hand over heart* I thank you a thousand times over, and I really hope you enjoyed it. If you plan to read it in the future, I’m just so grateful. I know there are plenty of awesome YA books to choose from right now, and I appreciate, in advance, if you’re taking a chance on mine.

So, where can we buy it my precious?

Patience, my love.
